چکیده

Solid-liquid equilibria of solid mixtures in compressed CO2 are very important in assessing the feasibility of gas-assisted micronization processes such as PGSS (Particles from Gas-Saturated Solution). The determination of solid-liquid transition temperatures, the eutectic temperature and the associated composition of the melt can be problematic and time-consuming. Such data are required in the construction of solid-liquid phase diagrams. This information is useful for the selection of appropriate operating conditions in the PGSS process. The use of high pressure differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) for the determination of solid-liquid transition temperatures of solid mixtures in high pressure CO2 provides a rapid and indirect method for the determination of the liquid-phase composition. A simple thermodynamic model was developed to predict the phase behaviour.

Experimental and Theoretical Study of Phase Equilibria in Aqueous Mixtures of Lactic Acid with Benzyl Alcohol and p-Xylene at Various Temperatures

Liquid-liquid equilibria for the (water + lactic acid + benzyl alcohol or p-xylene) ternary systems were investigated at atmospheric pressure and in the temperature range from 298.15-318.15 K. The studied systems exhibit two types of liquid-liquid equilibrium (LLE) behavior. The system consisting of benzyl alcohol displays type-1 LLE behavior, while a type-2 behavior is exhibited by th...

Effect of Magnetic Field on the Liquid-liquid Equilibria of (Water + Acetic Acid + Organic Solvent) Ternary Systems

The effect of magnetic field on the liquid-liquid equilibrium of two ternary systems (water + acetic acid + butyl acetate and water + acetic acid + dimethyl succinate) at 298.15 K under atmospheric pressure was investigated. The results obtained show that the strength of the magnetic field (0.02 T) affects the solubility of acetic acid in the used organic solvents. Distribution coefficients and...

Liquid-Liquid Equilibrium for the Ternary Systems of Solvent+ m/o/p-Cresol+Water: Thermodynamic Modeling

In this study, NRTL and UNIQUAC thermodynamic models were used to predict the composition of ternary mixtures of solvents+ m/o/p-cresol+ water in organic and aqueous phases. Various solvents are used for the separation of cresols from water. In this study, methyl propyl ketone, methyl isopropyl ketone, methyl butyl ketone, and methyl isobutyl ketone solvents were investigated. Intermolecular in...

Modeling Solubility Behavior of CO2 in [C2-mim][BF4] and [C4-mim][BF4] Ionic Liquids by sPC-SAFT Equation of State

The simplified perturbed chain statistical associating fluid theory (sPC-SAFT) Equation of State (EOS) was proposed to describe the thermodynamic properties of pure ionic liquids (ILs). A set of sPC-SAFT parameters for 2 ILs was obtained by fitting the experimental liquid densities data over a wide range of temperature at atmospheric pressure. Good agreement with experimental density data was o...

High Pressure Phase Equilibrium of (Solvent + Salt + CO2) Systems by the Extended Peng-Robinson Equation of State

An extended Peng-Robinson equation of state (EPR-EOS) is used to model the vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) in systems containing (water + NaCl + CO2), (water + methanol + NaCl + CO2), (water + Na2SO4 + CO2) and (water + NH4Cl + CO2). The binary and ternary interaction parameters between salt and solvent are adjusted...
